Requirements to activate as a York County ARES Operator

There are a few requirements for membership in York County ARES.

First is that you must be a currently licensed Amateur Radio Operator.
Second, you must want to provide assistance to county cities and towns in the case of emergencies.

That's it!

There are some training requirements to be allowed to deploy on assignments for the York County Emergency Management Agency (YCEMA)and the municipalities we serve.

The current York County ARES Emergency Communications Plan states that within one year of joining York County ARES each member will complete the following on-line courses:
Free courses from FEMA (http://training.fema.gov/IS):
a. IS-100 (Introduction to the Incident Command System)
b. IS-700 (Introduction to the National Incident Management System (NIMS)
ALSO within the first year, each member will complete either:
- The FREE Maine Emergency Communications Course Level I

OR

-for a fee, ARRL ARECC EC-001 (information may be found at www.arrl.org)

Once the courses have been completed. you will receive a completion certificate. A copy of this certificate should be sent to Ted Baker who is the York County Emergency Coordinator.at ted@eb-analytics.com
